Sacrament

Sacraments, regarded as the sacred mysteries of the Orthodox Church, are fundamental elements of spiritual life and divine grace. Rooted in the teachings of Christ and the apostles, sacraments are visible signs of God's invisible grace, conveying His presence and blessings to believers. The Orthodox tradition recognizes seven sacraments: baptism, chrismation, Eucharist, confession (penance), anointing of the sick (unction), marriage, and holy orders. Each sacrament represents a unique encounter between the individual and God, marking significant moments in the believer's journey of faith. Through sacramental rites, participants are initiated into the life of the Church, nourished spiritually, healed, and sanctified. Sacraments serve as channels of divine grace, transforming the faithful and uniting them with Christ and His Church. In the sacraments, believers experience the tangible presence of God's love, forgiveness, and redemption, strengthening their relationship with Him and with one another. Central to Orthodox worship and spirituality, sacraments embody the profound mystery of God's saving work in the world, inviting believers to participate fully in the life of Christ and His Church.

We have a few great resources on the sacraments. Here's one talking more in-depth about each of the sacraments.
