Content Review Policy
Orthodox Christianity 101 exists to introduce people to the Orthodox faith accurately and clearly. This page explains how our articles are researched, reviewed, and maintained so you can trust what you read.
Rooted in the Fathers
Every article is grounded in Scripture, the Ecumenical Councils, and the writings of the Church Fathers. Where theologians differ, we note the range of opinion rather than flattening it.
Accuracy Before Speed
Articles are drafted, cross-checked against primary sources, and held for a second read before publishing. If we cannot source a claim, we either find a source or remove the claim.
Transparent Updates
When we correct an error or expand a topic, we update the article and revise its “Last reviewed” date. Significant factual corrections are called out at the top of the article when appropriate.
Our five-step review process
Research
We gather canonical sources — Scripture, patristic writings, liturgical texts, jurisdictional catechisms, and respected modern Orthodox scholarship — before drafting.
Draft
A draft is written with an eye toward pastoral clarity: accurate, accessible, and attentive to seekers who are encountering Orthodoxy for the first time.
Review
Each article is reviewed for theological accuracy, citation quality, readability, and tone. Where subject-matter expertise is needed, we consult trusted Orthodox clergy and educators.
Publish
On publication, articles are tagged with the author, reviewers, publish date, and “Last reviewed” date. The “Last reviewed” date is the source of truth for content freshness.
Maintain
We periodically re-read articles — especially those covering liturgical practice, ecclesiology, or evolving pastoral questions — and refresh them to keep them accurate.
Corrections and feedback
If you spot an error, a missing source, or something that needs clarification, please let us know. We read every message and treat correction requests seriously—they make the site better for everyone who comes after you.

A word on affiliation
Orthodox Christianity 101 is an independent educational project. It is not the official publication of any diocese, jurisdiction, or parish. We strive to present material in a way that is faithful to the teaching of the Orthodox Church, but readers should consult their own priest or spiritual father for pastoral guidance.
