Privacy Policy
Orthodox Christianity 101 is an educational project, not an advertising business. We ask for as little as possible, we do not sell what we are given, and you can read the whole site without telling us anything at all.

What we collect, and only when you offer it
Reading this site requires no account and no personal information. The few things below are collected only when you choose to take an action that needs them.

Subscriber email addresses are stored in our own database and used for the newsletter only. Some pages embed media hosted elsewhere, such as YouTube videos; those providers apply their own privacy policies to what they receive when the embed loads.
What we never do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Ever, to anyone.
- We do not run advertising, ad networks, or third-party ad trackers.
- We do not build profiles of readers or track you across other websites.
- We do not require an account to read anything on this site.
The Orthodox Daily browser extension
Orthodox Daily collects nothing, sends nothing, and has no server. The calendar, prayers, fonts, and artwork are bundled inside the extension and the day is computed on your own device, so it makes no network requests at all and works with no connection.
It saves exactly two preferences, both through Chrome’s own storage on your machine:

If you have Chrome Sync turned on, the calendar preference is carried between your own signed-in Chrome installations by Google, under Google’s privacy policy. We never see it. Everything else stays on the device, and uninstalling the extension removes both values.
Permissions, and why each one exists
storage— to save the two preferences above. Nothing else is written.alarms— to re-check the date about once an hour, so the toolbar badge turns over at midnight instead of showing yesterday’s fasting status.
The extension requests no host permissions, so it has no access to any website. It cannot read the pages you visit, your history, your bookmarks, or your tabs. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no remote code: nothing is downloaded or executed after installation.
The page links back to this site. Nothing is sent when it loads — only if you click a link, which is an ordinary visit you chose to make. Those links carry a utm_source=chrome-extension tag so we can see in aggregate how many visits came from the extension. That tag identifies the extension, not you.
Cookies
We set no advertising or tracking cookies, and our analytics are cookieless. The only cookie this site sets is a sign-in session cookie for site administrators, which is never set for ordinary readers.
Your choices
- Leave the newsletter — reply “unsubscribe” to any issue, or email us and we will remove you.
- Ask what we hold, or ask us to delete it — email us and we will tell you, or erase it, at no cost.
- Remove the extension’s data — uninstalling Orthodox Daily deletes everything it saved.
Children
This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us their information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes, and how to reach us
If this policy changes materially we will revise it here and update the date at the top of the page. The extension’s permissions cannot expand without a new Chrome Web Store review, which Chrome will show you before it applies.
